Is the Hebrew letter in accordance with Jesus` teachings?
I ask since it is texts in that letter which are the reason why the Christian Bible is parted in two books, with the names THE OLD- and THE NEW TESTAMENT. Because of these names, I have found it necessary to study this letter thoroughly. And what I found in that letter, shocked me.
Since an old testament always is being abolished by a new testament, I think we aught to find the reason why the founders of Christianity chose those names.
We have to agree in the fact that the two names tell us that God`s own Word in the so-called old testament is not in force any longer, but is totally replaced by the so-called new testament.
We find the background of these names described in Hebr.9:15. The author is there converting God`s covenant with his people, into a testament. But a covenant and a testament are two quite different documents . A covenant is an agreement between several partners who are all liable for its content, while – when it concerns a testament, the testator is the only one to govern the case.
Who made the first covenant with the Israelites? Was it Jesus? No, it was Israel´s God, for Moses tells us this:
“Moses went up (on Sinai) with Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel. AND THEY SAW THE GOD OF ISRAEL.” (Exod.24:9-10.)
Jesus was there too, but as the sacrificial lamb. This first covenant had three partners. God was the leader of the covenant, Jesus was the sacrificial lamb. And the people’s task was this:
“We will obey, and do all that the Lord has said.” (Exod.24:8.)
The Hebrew letter says:
“Where there is a testament it is necessary for the death of the testator to be established. A testament is operative only after a death : it cannot possibly have force while the testator is alive.” (Hebr.9:16-17.)
But Israel´s God did not die. Therefore the claim of the new testament (covenant) to have been established, when Jesus died, is wrong.
The author of this letter reveals his lack of knowledge by even not knowing such a simple fact as where “the golden altar of incense” were placed in the temple. He claims this:
“Beyond the second curtain was the tent called the most holy place. Here was the golden altar of incense, and the ark of the covenant.” (9:3-4.)
He places the altar in the Most Holy Place together with the ark.
But this is very wrong. The Lord describes the right place:
“Make an alter on which to burn incense … Put it BEFORE THE VEIL in front of the Ark.” (Exod.30:1.6.)
The alter was standing outside the veil, just in front of the ark.
These texts reveal the fact that “the new covenant” – only described in Jer.chapter 31 – is not made yet. It will besides be made with “Israel and Judah”, when the twelve tribes have returned to Israel, see Jer.31:31 and 8-14. THIS TELLS US THAT THE NEW COVENANT WAS NOT MADE WITH THE GENTILES , BY JESUS´ DEATH.
I have written this because the Lord told me to do it!
